Year 12 Physicists Dive into Particle Physics at Liverpool University

Masterclass for our physicists!

Our Year 12 physicists recently had the incredible opportunity to attend a full-day masterclass on particle physics at Liverpool University. The day began with engaging lectures on the standard model and the current great unsolved mysteries in physics, sparking curiosity and excitement amongst the students.

After a refreshing lunch break, the students participated in a hands-on workshop where they analysed real data from the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. During this session, they successfully isolated a flavour of meson and calculated its mass, showcasing their analytical skills and understanding of complex concepts.

The day concluded with an inspiring video conference with research teams from around the world, providing the students with a global perspective on the field of particle physics. This masterclass was a brilliant opportunity for our students to experience life as practising particle physicists, leaving them motivated and eager to explore further in their studies.
