Mental Health Day

Health and Social Care & Childcare Students Celebrate World Mental Health Day with Special Workshop

On Thursday, 10 October, Health and Social Care and Childcare students took part in a workshop dedicated to learning about World Mental Health Day, a global event observed annually to raise awareness about mental health issues. The session highlighted the importance of reaching out for support, talking about feelings, and sharing effective strategies for maintaining mental well-being.

Throughout the day, students engaged in meaningful discussions about the significance of mental health, exploring ways to manage stress and emotions. They were introduced to techniques such as mindfulness and breathing exercises, emphasising the importance of talking openly about their mental health and seeking help when needed.

As part of the workshop, students participated in a guided meditation session designed to encourage relaxation and reflection. The aim was to give students practical tools to incorporate self-care into their daily lives. To reinforce this, students were assigned homework focused on self-care activities throughout October. They were also provided with a sheet of inspiring activities to help them prioritise their mental well-being.

The event was a valuable opportunity for students to learn about mental health in a supportive environment, equipping them with essential skills to look after themselves and others. This hands-on approach to World Mental Health Day aimed to instil lifelong habits of self-care and resilience in the students.
