Trip of a lifetime to Iceland

Our Geographers enjoy a 4 day trip to Iceland!
On 21st March, our fantastic Y9 and Y10 Geographers embarked on the trip of a lifetime to Iceland for 4 days.
Our first day involved a tour of Reykjavík, the most northern capital city in the world. The second day started with a bathe in the geothermal waters of the secret lagoon, including some students braving a dip in the 5C cold plunge pool!
This was followed by a trip to the Geysir geothermal area and then on to the Gulfoss waterfall. Then we went into the rift valley where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates pull apart.
Our third day was a firm favourite with students with a trip to two waterfalls where we all got soaked 'feeling the power' of the waterfalls at Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss. We visited the town of Vík for lunch before visiting the black sand beach of Reynisfjara and then to the Sólheimajökull glacier.
Before departing back to the UK we managed to fit in an extra bit of geography with a visit to the site of the most recent eruptions in Grindavík, which has since started erupting again!
Photographs from the trip can be found in our gallery.
