World Book Day Celebrations
Students and staff enjoy a day of dressing up as their favourite book character.
On Thursday 1st March, we celebrated World Book Day at The Sutton Academy - furthering our drive to promote a lifelong love of reading amongst our students. Staff and students in Years 7 and 8 were invited to transform themselves into their favourite fictional characters. The response was amazing! We also raised over £50 for our Academy charity.
We are passionate about reading and literacy, and strive to promote a love of reading, writing and oracy in every subject area. By encouraging our students to read we are leading them to a better future via new ideas, new vocabulary - and an ability to express themselves by referring to great works of fiction and non-fiction.
As always, the day was a lot of fun - and prizes will be coming up for the best dressed students ... and staff!!
