Gold Curriculum
The gold curriculum is a supported curriculum that aids transition into and progress through secondary school for a small number of students with additional needs.
The provision is available throughout KS3 and is led by the curriculum leader for AEN (Assistant SENCo), supported by three teachers of inclusion and a small team of Learning Support Assistants. It is overseen by the Assistant Principal for Inclusion / SENCo.
Students who access the gold curriculum have a blended timetable split between a purpose built area of the school (the Learning Development Centre), and the wider school site. When working within the LDC students work with inclusion staff on the following areas of the curriculum:
- English
- Mathematics
- History
- Geography
- R.E.
Students also access intervention packages based on their area of need and advice from external agencies.
When not working in the LDC students attend mainstream classes supported by learning support assistants from the LDC. At this time students study wider aspects of the curriculum including science, art, music and technology in specialist faculty areas.
At all points of their learning journey students follow the curriculum as mapped by individual faculty areas. The delivery of the curriculum is modified by inclusion staff to ensure it is accessible for the differing needs of the students within the gold curriculum. For more information on the curriculum content please see individual faculty areas.
