First Day Back Arrangements
Return dates for September 2024
To support our new Year 7 students in their transition to the academy, students will return in the next academic year on a slight stagger.
• New Year 7 and Year 12 students will start on Tuesday 3 September, at the normal time - arriving between 8.05am and 8.35am.
• Years 8, 9, 10, 11 & 13 will then return at the normal time on Wednesday 4 September.
Standards (a regular reminder):
We hope that you are enjoying the Summer holiday period. With the return to the academy approaching soon, I wanted to take this opportunity to remind parents and students about our existing rules on standards, uniform, hair, make-up, jewellery and mobile phones. This will enable us to work together and have the best possible start to the new academic year.
Uniform:
All uniform items are expected to be worn - academy tie, blazer, shirt and shoes. Uniform must be worn correctly on the way to and from the academy. Any student that arrives at the academy wearing items of incorrect uniform, (such as trainers or a 'hoody'), will have them confiscated and returned at the end of the day.
Shoes must be in line with academy expectations, as detailed on the 'Uniform' section of our website. No jewelled badges on the front, pumps or training shoes are allowed. If unsure please send a photograph into the academy for clarification.
Skirts should be a minimum length of 22 inches.
Make Up and Jewellery:
Make-up, nail varnish, false nails and false eye lashes are not to be worn. Where a student is clearly wearing any of these, they will be asked to remove them. Repeat offenders will be sanctioned in line with the academy policy.
Jewellery is limited to one pair of small plain studs at the base of the ear lobe. A wristwatch is also permitted. Students are not permitted to wear multiple earrings, rings, bracelets or nose studs/facial piercings.
Mobile Phones:
We are an academy that allows students to keep mobile phones on their person, however, they must be switched off and out of sight at all times. If seen or heard they will be confiscated and only returned to students at 3.10pm that same day.
Hair:
Hairstyles should be moderate in style. Hair colour should be natural and not dyed. There should be no extreme styles or shaved patterns in hair or eyebrows, and also no hair braids are to be worn.
Equipment:
In line with the academy policy, all students are expected to bring a bag each day to he academy with a pencil case and full equipment. Equipment will be available to purchase each morning at the Student Entrance gate if needed.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the academy.
